Life has soulful moments:
The truth at the bottom of words.
The swirl of tea leaves in transparent water.
The deep smell of sandalwood.

So often we feel that these moments are beyond us, that somehow they are gifts from a vast source that eludes us. We, at MANGATA, believe they are gifts of mystery and grace, but we also believe that—with intentionality—we can cultivate more of these moments. Our GATHERINGS are beautiful organic experiences of coming together to nourish and stoke the soul. They are serious and fun, sacred and celebratory. We invite you to join us.

Mangata 2019 | Distillation

The second annual MANGATA gathering took place at Bloomsbury Farm on Sunday, September 29 in the wake of the previous evening’s Super New Moon, which offered us an especially potent time for rest and reflection. Our group of 40+ women, representing a cross-section of ages and life stages, came together to explore, with curiosity and vulnerability, the question What is the power of distillation? Through personal and collective discernment, we considered what it means to distill // de-stillare, which at its most fundamental level is about going “down into a drop.” Distilling aromatic waters, distilling movement, distilling our breath, distilling flavor and language–in all these ways, we dropped deeper into ourselves and also lifted one another higher in spirit.

Mangata 2018 | Nourish

On the new moon of Sunday, September 9th, 2018 as late summer moved into early fall, we gathered at Bloomsbury Farm to explore the question How do we nourish the soul? A steady, cleansing rain fell while we enjoyed an afternoon of communal pondering, conversation, and aromatherapy followed by a walking meditation and fireside tea ceremony.
